Air Conditioning Maintenance & Servicing
Service, Maintenance, Breakdowns and Repairs.
Service, Maintenance and Repair of your Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Cellar Cooling System.
If your system is not operating as efficiently as it should be, then give us a call. We can arrange to have our engineers with you on site, usually within 24 hours or before. Our highly qualified engineers are experienced in fault diagnosis and the repair of all major brands of air conditioning refrigeration equipment. We can carry out this work for you even if we did not originally install the system or it is not the subject of one of our maintenance plans.
We also offer a Planned Maintenance Program for your air conditioning and refrigeration installation. Regular maintenance is vital if you wish to prolong the working life of your system and to keep your system performing at its greatest efficiency. We would be happy to arrange for a quote over the ‘phone or, if necessary, for an engineer to visit your site.
Air Conditioning units
For your peace of mind we strongly recommend that your systems are subject to regular maintenance. It is a recognized fact that a regularly serviced air conditioning / refrigeration unit will have a far longer lifespan, will have higher performance and be more energy efficient than a unit which does not receive regular maintenance.
We are able to offer you a ‘tailor made’ maintenance contract to suit your needs which will ensure that your systems are always working at optimum performance levels.
The installation of your air conditioning or refrigeration system is a major investment. Naturally you will want to protect your investment by both prolonging the life of your system and ensuring that the air conditioning units are running efficiently and economically. To achieve this we would suggest that you enter into a maintenance contract which will ensure regular servicing and will help achieve the longevity and efficiency of your system for many years.
It is our experience that the vast majority of expensive air conditioning and refrigeration repairs occur as a result of systems which have not been subject to any regular maintenance or servicing. Typically when being used in a residential environment we would normally recommend just one service visit per year, but for more critical use, i.e. server rooms, trading floors, retail shops, restaurants and cellar cooling, we would normally advise that your maintenance contract allows for more frequent service visits.
There is no better time than the Spring to have your air conditioning system serviced in good time for the Summer months. Very often small problems spotted at the time of service stop them from becoming major and expensive problems later on. Here are some questions we are frequently asked:
Question: Is there a suggested period for re-gassing my air conditioning system?
Answer: Using your air conditioning system does not use up the refrigerant gas inside it. In fact, if conditions were ideal it would never need re-gassing. During servicing and maintenance, the level of gas is checked and a low level means that in all likelihood there is a minute leak in the system. Most recently manufactured air conditioning units have connections which are welded to minimize leaks but older units used to have mechanically connected fittings which, over the years, can vibrate loose and cause a leak and the air conditioning system will fail.
The effects of a gas leak are as follows:
- The efficiency of the air conditioner is reduced considerably
- The refrigerant cools the compressor and over a period of time a low level of gas can cause the compressor to overheat and breakdown. This would require a complete replacement of the compressor and sometimes the condensing unit as well. These are both very expensive repairs
- Low gas levels can also cause the evaporator coil to freeze up. When the air conditioning unit defrosts, it will normally restart and then freeze again
- The refrigerant gas is a “controlled substance” in respect of environmental hazard. It therefore, must not be released into the atmosphere which is a process obviously happening if your system is leaking
Question: Should I take my installer’s advice and arrange regular check ups for my air conditioning systems?
Answer: We do recommend at least annual air conditioning system checkups and these should be done in the Spring. By undertaking this program of maintenance, you would minimize the risk of expensive repairs later on. Also, the main advantage is that your system should function efficiently during the Summer months.
Question: What actions are carried out to the air conditioning system during the service?
- Filters are checked and cleaned
- The evaporator and condenser coils are cleaned
- All motors are oiled where required
- Check condenser
- Check thermostat is working accurately
- Check all electrical fittings and test controls
- Check for correct refrigerant levels
